Dental 3D Printing Workflow with Post-Processing
Prepare Your Model
Import the STL, orient properly, and add supports if needed. Hollow models where appropriate to save material.
Print with Correct Settings
Use validated printer settings for your specific resin and printer. Maintain room temperature around 22–25 °C.
Post-Processing Made Simple
Wash the print in isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or an approved cleaner for 2–3 minutes.
Dry thoroughly using compressed air or allow to air dry.
Post-cure under UV light as recommended (typically 5–15 minutes).
Remove supports carefully to avoid damaging model.
Polish or finish as needed, depending on application.
Quality Check and Use
Inspect for accuracy, surface finish, and stability before delivering or casting.

Frequently asked questions
Why do my dental models warp?
Warping comes from heat, sunlight, humidity, or prolonged IPA exposure. DMD-21 offers 152.2°C HDT at 0.45 MPa for stability. Store cool and dry; thermoform aligners within 24-48 hours post-cure to keep fit accurate.
How long can I store dental models?
Properly cured models stay stable for weeks in lab conditions. DMD-21 and DMD-31 minimize shrinkage and water absorption. Store away from sunlight and heat above 40°C. For aligner thermoforming, print and form within 24-48 hours.
Why aren't my crown margins sharp enough?
Blurry margins from high layer heights. Use 25-35 μm for clear crown/die details. DMD-21 and DMD-31 capture lines reliably. Balances sharpness with time; 50 μm for ortho where speed matters.
Why do my prints turn yellow after curing?
Over-curing or poor UV control causes yellowing/brittleness. Limit to 5-60 minutes under 405nm until non-tacky. DMD-21 matte resists yellowing for scanning.
Why does my gingiva mask tear when I trim it?
Low tear resistance causes tearing. GVA-26 has 37 Shore A hardness, 176.5% elongation, and 7.8 kN/m tear resistance for durable trimming. Cut/drill below 10,000 RPM. Lab simulation only.
How do I print dental models faster?
Slow resins limit throughput. At 50 μm on mono LCD, full-arch takes 45-90 minutes. DMD-21 fast exposure reduces layer times. Wash/cure adds 20-40 minutes for 2-3 hour turnaround.
Will AmeraLabs resin work with my dental printer?
Yes if 385-410nm LCD/MSLA/DLP like Phrozen, Anycubic, Elegoo, Prusa, Asiga, or SprintRay. TDS has validated settings. Professional closed systems need open-material mode enabled.
